There will be suffering and guilt in your life and it is normal and ok. What is not normal to give up when it doesn't do anything. We are at the spiritual war. We will adapt and overcome our temptation but demons and flesh can adapt and try new things too. What they don't have is God who gives us strength through our weakness.

Remember, God gave us free will. He doesn't like to interfere. So if you feel like you are struggling, look at your relationship with Jesus. Have you fully given yourself to Him? It is amazing what He can and will do when you give Him full access and permission. I am 54 and have fought with lust most of my life, until recently. I gave Jesus control and He has worked wonders.

You can't do this alone, but with God because God design us to depend upon him, you remember me to Romans 7 and 8, because in Romans 7:15, 19-20 (translation ESV) says “For I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate. For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me.” https://bible.com/bible/59/rom.7.15-20.ESV But in Romans 8 (one of the best chapters in the bible) he gives the solution, look at Romans 8:1 (NKJV) “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” https://bible.com/bible/114/rom.8.1.NKJV You have to walk in the spirit, how? The son do what he sees in the father so you have abide in your father God (John 15:5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”) so you can be more like him and bear fruit, pne of the fruits of the spirit is love (Galatians 5:22-23) so that means that if you abide in God and you bear the fruits of love, you are going to love him so much that you are going to hate what he hates (sin) God bless you
