🌿 The Entry of Jesus into Jerusalem: the Colt and the Donkey

Why does Matthew mention a donkey and a colt, while the other Gospels highlight the colt?

There is not necessarily a contradiction. Matthew presents both animals and relates the scene to Zechariah 9:9.

Jesus enters Jerusalem riding on a colt that had never been ridden, fulfilling a prophecy and publicly showing that He is the humble King announced by the Scriptures.

📖 Matthew 21 · Mark 11 · Luke 19 · John 12 · Zechariah 9:9

Zechariah 9:9

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
