Matthew 11:28 (NIV)
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
In the busyness and weight of life, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed—by responsibilities, emotions, or circumstances beyond our control. Jesus sees that weariness. He doesn’t say, “Fix yourself first” or “Be strong enough.” He simply says: “Come to Me.”
True rest isn’t just found in sleep or a break from work—it’s found in a relationship with Him. When we come to Jesus, we lay down our fears, guilt, stress, and exhaustion. In return, He offers us peace, comfort, and a soul that is no longer striving but resting in His love and grace.
——
Lord Jesus,
I come to You just as I am—tired, anxious, and sometimes overwhelmed. You promised rest to the weary, and I believe Your words are true. Help me to lay down every burden at Your feet and trust in Your care. Teach me to rest not just physically, but spiritually, in Your presence. Fill my heart with peace that only You can give. I choose to come to You today and every day.
Amen.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
